I have such a hard time with science and social studies because our curriculum is always so vague. I want to share a great little unit I made. To save you time I’ve created some free picture prompts! Just download, print, and laminate for durability. By talking about the vocabulary first you will be able to front-load the kids with all the ideas they need. I use picture prompts to spark amazing stories. You can find the rest of the series here.
Radical Jr has a series of Imagine that videos showcasing different occupations. I literally go to the library and just load up and grab one or two of every book! I love that too.Ĭheck out these teacher-approved videos about community helpers
One of my favorite things to do for our social studies units is the load up my library with nonfiction books. take a look at all the great resources we have. But it also includes dentists, doctors, construction workers, and mechanics!Ĭommunity Helpers is one of those themes that can be done at any time in the year. Naturally, this would include police, firefighters, and mail carriers. A community helper is anyone that helps keep our community functioning well.
